Dear all,

we are delighted to invite you to the book launch of “Watchful Lives in the U.S. Mexico-Borderlands” asking how Chicanxs, Latinxs, and otherwise watched and “othered” people living close to the U.S.-Mexico border respond to racism, environmental pollution, and surveillance? What happens when the watched become watchful?

The book launch is followed by a reception and a vernissage for the exhibition “El Chaparral: From Tijuana through San Diego to Munich, Germany” by Nanzi Muro (see link below).

Nanzi is a fronteriza artivist based in San Diego, who through her work advocates for social change and gives voice to the voiceless, by raising awareness of the histories, perspectives, and biographies of the borderland and migrant communities in Mexico and in the U.S. Her work will be on display from 19 April to 29 April 2023. Gallery opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 1pm – 6:30pm, Saturday 10 am – 1pm.
