Cooperation in Practice: Munich–Manaus. A Dialogue between Research and Teaching
This event celebrates the longstanding collaboration between the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at LMU Munich and the postgraduate programme in Social Anthropology at the Federal University of Amazonas (Universidade Federal do Amazonas) in Manaus. We will reflect on the different approaches to collaboration in teaching and research that have emerged from this partnership. Colleagues from Manaus will offer insights into international academic collaboration from an Amazonian perspective and discuss the distinctive approach to “Indigenous Anthropology” currently being developed there. Finally, a student from our institute who spent time in Manaus will share his experiences. The session will be moderated by Eveline Dürr and Wolfgang Kapfhammer, with Prof. Gilton Mendes dos Santos, Dr. João Paulo Barreto and Matthias Saal also invited to co-moderate.
