Details of Doctoral Research

PhD project
(Working Title)Data journeys and machine learning in biology
Supervisors:
Prof. Dr. Philipp Schorch und Dr. Mascha Gugganig

Abstract: My PhD project aims to investigate how modern machine learning (ML), a form of artificial intelligence, is designed and used in biology. I am interested in the entire process, from generating and curating data to inventing and designing ML to applying it, and how scientists navigate this process and its challenges, which often involves collaboration between biologists and ML experts. My overarching motivation is to consider how we can responsibly design and use increasingly complex AI in the life sciences in future. I am addressing this through qualitative research at the Max Planck Society.
