Key Areas of Social and Cultural Anthropology at LMU Munich
Regionally, research and teaching at our department focuses especially on South Asia, the Americas - particularly Latin America -, Africa, Europe and the Pacific area. We are the only anthropology department in the German language area that specializes on research in Pakistan, particularly in Gilgit-Baltistan. Besides, we focus on the following thematic fields: visual anthropology, the society-environment nexus, urban studies, anthropology of politics, media anthropology (ONLINERPOL), migration and diaspora, ethnicity and identity.
